Say beans, without jelly, and they scrunch their faces and stick out their tongues... or run away.
They also don't like meat.
If it wasn't for the large amounts of peanut butter, and or peanuts, we consume I would be worried about their protein intake.
I, however, really wanted to try Black Bean Soup. And thanks to it being MY birthday, my wonderful husband made me some (thanks for the recipe Sarah!).
Then in attempts to convince the boys to eat it we gave it a new name.... and guess what? paired with fried tortilla strips they
Black

1 TBS olive oil
4 lrg cloves garlic -minced
3/4 C carrots -diced
3/4 C celery -diced
1 C diced onion
2 cans black beans -drained and rinsed
1 can green chilies
2 cans beef broth (we used chicken)
1 tsp koser salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp oregano
Simmer and Blend
or if you want to be fancy
Saute garlic, carrots, celery, and onion in olive oil
Add to pot with all other ingredients and simmer until tender
Blend in blender until smooth
OR if you are super spoiled and have a Blendtec
place ingredients in Blendtec {wet to dry} and press 'Soups'
