Ww Watermelon

{don't mind the faint mustaches on the boys' faces... apparently washable markers aren't exactly washable... more on why they had mustaches soon}

For Ww Watermelon we read two really fun books

Watermelon Wishes, a cute story about a boy and his grandpap planting watermelons, and Leela and the Watermelon, a funny one about a girl who is told by her brother that if she shallows a watermelon seed a watermelon will grow in her stomach (something Levi has been told by Nick- but an apple, not watermelon- so he liked relating to the book)

I made and laminated some watermelon slices, then used our number cards and chocolate chips to play a watermelon seed number game... which ended with a treat, of course!

Using some clear shampoo and food coloring I made squishy bags for Owen to squish and Levi to write Ww's in. We even taped them to the glass door to let light shine through them

and we fingerpainted watermelons...

with a picture of Leela eating a watermelon as inspiration
