Boy School: Aa Week

We are VERY lucky to live so close to both my family, and Devin's. Especially because ALL of Devin's brothers are living here too! We are always going, laughing, and enjoying. Getting into the normal groove of things has been a little difficult so Levi and I didn't spend a whole lot of time on our numbers but family is more important than numbers right?
Since we live so close to family we were able to invite Thayden, Levi's cousin, to join us in learning our letters! and what I used to refer to as playschool or 'projects' Simone, my sister-in-law, and I refer to it as Boy School. Thayden comes twice a week for two hours at a time, which really helps me be more dedicated and organized.
Aa Week
Tuesday we did Astronauts:
We read One Giant Leap: The Story of Neil Armstrong by Don Brown, it was a little drawn out with more detail than the boys cared about at this age, and Levi got caught up on Buzz Aldrin (because of Buzz Lightyear). When he mixes them up in High School we can blame Disney! :-) and then we began 'Astronaut Training'
We practiced our navigating skills but jumping around the stars and avoiding asteroids (the big ball), and by doing rocket tracers and letter Aa star hunts,

 Then we got our space helmets ready and...

 jumped on the numbers counting off to BLAST OFF with this song, Zoom Zoom Zoom, and then we were in outer-space where we collected and piled all the Aa moon rocks

then it was time to head home to explore 'moon salt' and practice writing letter Aa

and Thursday we did Apples:

We read two books.
First Johnny Appleseed by Patricia Brennan Demuth, I highly recommend it! I went through a few books about Johnny Appleseed and this was the most youngster friendly, to the point, and enjoyable. (read it and you'll know why we wore a cooking pot on our head and climbed an apple tree!)
Second was Ten Apples Up On Top... of course!

We also drew a head and stuck apple stickers on top of it in numerical order but I was too busy writing out the numbers with the boys to take a picture.
