Dr. Seuss' birthday {late posting}

I love Dr. Seuss books... most of them :-)
Among our favorites are: Horton Hatches the Egg and McElligot's Pool
{however the boys got Horton Hatched the Egg for Christmas and reading everyday for a month crossed it off my list for awhile}

Dr. Seuss' birthday is MARCH 2nd, and of course we celebrated it... why not it's close to birthday season, why not make another cake! yes i'm crazy...

I decided since I want this to be a long standing tradition, our celebration of this day will revolve around a difference book each year, but only one (does that make sense?).
This year (due to late planning) we did,

The Cat in the Hat

After reading the book we attempted balancing on a ball

and acting like the Cat

we 'put away' the Cat's hats by matching them

 Levi blow painted Thing One and Thing Two's blue hair

 and of course we sang Happy Birthday and ate cake... which was red and white like the Cat's Hat

 

 Owen wasn't really into any of it.... until the cake!
