Lava Hot Springs: Olympic Swimming Complex

This week was the Lindstrom Family Reunion. Both Devin and I planned on working over the seven week break between semesters, so we planned on only attending one day- the 'Lindstrom Day' (*explanation below), which just so happened to be the day scheduled for the Hot Springs Swimming Pool.
We packed up, and drove down getting there about 20 minutes before it opened. So we took pictures:

sat on a very warm metal bull:

and had to break the news to Levi that he was too small to ride the slides:

Then it was off to swimming! I was nervous that Levi was going to cling to me like he has been doing recently in water, even though his first summer he LOVED the water and his floatie, can anyone explain this to me? Luckily, and maybe it was my amazing husband, he was so excited we couldn't keep him in the floatie, and had to get out his wings- which eventually came off too. He loved floating by himself with the water right in his face! He was a giggly mess!

After over 5 hours of swimming, doing speed and curly slides, meeting relatives (which was just about everyone there), and seeing Devin dive for the first time in person, we packed up to leave. Needless to say Levi wasn't the only one that took a nap on the way home.

*The Lindstrom Reunion is the original Lindstrom family- meaning Devin's Great-Grandparents. There's a number (?) of girls and one boy (our grandpa Lindstrom). Each year a different sibling-family is in charge of the theme and each night a different sibling-family is in charge of the food. It works out nicely to go by last name because there is only one Lindstrom (the boy), and the rest have married names... it's like if my sisters and I were to have a Folk Family Reunion. The Folk Family would be our parents and currently Kayla, then there's the (Sarah) Moss Family, (Katie) Gilmore Family, (Jessi) Bee Family, and (Lindsay) Lindstrom Family. So one year the Moss Family could be in charge and one night the Bee Family would do dinner. Since the original Lindstrom family has grown to great-great grandchildren (like Levi) you can imagine why basically everyone at the pool was related. Hopefully that makes sense.*
