The purpose (as written in the manual) is to 'Help family members show greater love and appreciation for each other.'
How do you do that with a 17 months old? For our family we worked on teaching Levi how to say 'I love you' first in English, then Japanese, then ASL- all the while chasing each other around giving hugs and kisses. Basic and simple but if worked for us and since that day Levi now says 'love you' anytime we say it to him, and the other day he walked up to me and asked me for a hug! I think the lesson went well.
