Cute as a Bug

Kaboose made a whole mobile out of the bugs they made but we just mad one with the little supplies we had on hand.

Items:
Egg carton
paint and brush (one color of choice and white)
paper (we used card stock)
scissors
black permanent marker
Q-tips
string (we used yarn)
glue (I used Elmer's liquid but hot glue would probably be better)

1. cut out two egg carton sections
2. paint and let dry
3. meanwhile cut out wings (we folded our card stock in half and cut out one wing then traces it and cut out another to make them even and have the color on both sides... don't forget to glue the two sides together if you fold the paper)
4. cut one Q-tip in half for the antenna (ours wasn't perfect and I think it gave it a little more character)
5. cut a piece of string to desired length and tie a large knot in one end
6. trim edges of dried egg carton sections to be even (although the sections don't have to be the same size our bum was larger than our head)
7. dip Q-tip (NOT the intenia one that you cut in half) in white paint and dab twice on one section (for the eyes) then use black permanent marker for pupil of eye
8. glue it all together- placing Q-tip antenna, string (knot end inside- to hold it in), and wings between the two egg carton section
9. let dry completely
10. let your little one enjoy flying their own pet bug around!




{here is Thayden with the bug that him and Levi made- Thayden picked out the paint, paper, and Q-tip (I had white sticked ones and blue sticked ones), both him and Levi painted it, and helped with the gluing- I love involving them in every step possible and am surprised at how much they can actually do on their own}
