Opened, half emptied boxes are strewn from downstairs to up. Grocery shopping transformed into a hunting ground busting with half-starved students attached to the arms of the parents and their wallets; we focused on the bare essentials: milk, eggs, cheese, bread, butter, and salsa. Then ran out grasping the last of our sanity.
Two days later we are happy to report that along with those essentials and our food storage we, not only are alive, but have also had a guest to dinner (who did not complain about the missing tomato soup that was promised with grilled cheese), complete with dessert- cake batter cookies.
Can you tell I'm proud of my little family- mind you this food storage has been here from last years accumulation. Meaning it was packed away with disgruntled thoughts of having to pack, and move yet another box! But, oh the joy that was felt as the silver cans, and dusty glass jars were pulled from the boxes and proudly placed on the self!
Now of course it needs a lot of improvement {tomato soup}, but it has been an interesting learning process and shown the importance of having a food storage- so on the days when the stores are busting with starving students, one can sit at home avoiding the tumultuous world outside enjoying their grilled cheese and applesauce. :-)
We are here and alive in the frozen world of 'IceLand'- and as happy as ever!
Yeah for food storage. I can't tell you how many times it has saved us. Not only when I am lazy and don't want to do the shopping, but it has come in handy during winter storms and at times we are trying to stretch the budget. I'm glad you are settling in and have good food. Enjoy your food and apartment, we miss you!
